26-WEEK NIGHT-SHIFT MED/SURG TELEMETRY RN CONTRACT – LEVEL I TRAUMA CENTER

An immediate 26-week extended travel contract opening is available for an experienced Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse (RN) in Chandler, Arizona (Greater Phoenix / East Valley metro). Operating within a modern 29-bed all-private-room inpatient telemetry unit at a premier Level I Trauma Center, this position features a stable 3x12 overnight schedule (19:00 PM - 07:30 AM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). • Weekly Gross: $2,070.00
• Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,350.00
• Hourly W2 Rate: $20.00/hr (36 regular hours)

SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

• Schedule: Night shifts, 3x12-Hours (19:00 PM - 07:30 AM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). First-come, first-served self-scheduling posted 4 weeks in advance (balanced by unit leadership).
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
• Assignment Duration: 26 Weeks (long-term contract).
• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule block (Fri/Sat count toward night shift weekends); placed into a rotational holiday block (must work 2 major Winter holidays and 1 major Summer holiday).
• Standby & On-Call Requirements: Standby shifts required on rare occasions as expected for core/regular unit staff ($7.00/hr standby rate).
• Unit Acuity & Ratios: 29-bed unit (MS/Tele B2C, all private rooms). Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1 to 5:1. Primary care nursing on nights (CNAs present on day shifts only). Free-floating Charge Nurse without a patient assignment on every shift; in-house House Supervisor and leadership available 24/7.
• Clinical Scope & Diagnoses: Renal disorders, complex GI pathologies, acute sepsis protocols, and co-occurring medical-mental health conditions. Respiratory ceiling is up to 6L nasal cannula and CPAP for non-obstructive sleep apnea (no high-flow or BiPAP on unit; RNs administer breathing treatments).
• Cardiac Care & Drip Management: Remote monitor techs support the floor, but RNs are required to independently interpret strips and identify rhythm changes (GE cardiac monitors). Managing set-rate infusions (Heparin, Lasix, Amiodarone, Cardizem; no titration required) and post-cardiac catheterization femoral groin management.
• Floating Scope: Floats within the acute care service line and overflow areas based on skillset (travelers float first, though high unit traveler volume minimizes floating).
• EMR System & Uniform: Cerner; Solid Navy Blue scrubs (closed-toe shoes; no graphic t-shirts).

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated acute care Med/Surg Telemetry inpatient clinical experience.
• Licensure: Active Arizona RN License or Compact/NLC Multistate License.
• Certifications Required at Submittal:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Documented ECG / Dysrhythmia competency.
• Mandatory Testing & Orientation Gateways:
  • Must take and pass an online UNA Dysrhythmia Exam within 48 hours of receiving an offer (maximum 2 attempts permitted; failure results in a 6-month systemwide DNU).
  • Mandatory Day 1 Simulation Lab Assessment (Pass/Fail) at hospital orientation.
