Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This role is situated within a locked incarcerated unit of a hospital, requiring candidates to be comfortable working with the prison population. The Registered Nurse will be expected to float to other Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units, including forensics, inpatient units, and potentially ICU settings.

Shift Details

• 3x12-hour shifts
• Day shift: 07:00 - 19:00

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to incarcerated patients within a secure environment.
• Float between various units, including telemetry, forensics, and potentially ICU.
• Participate in holiday rotations, covering key holidays as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage and document patient health information efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention); MAB certification may be accepted in place of CPI.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse patient population.

Holiday Requirements

Contract nurses will be expected to work a total of 3 out of 6 designated holidays during the specified holiday rotation, which includes Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Schedule swaps may be arranged when feasible to accommodate personal preferences.

Additional Information

All contracts initiated in September will extend into the new year to guarantee adequate holiday coverage throughout the busy season.
