Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Med/Surg and Telemetry to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, particularly in managing neurological conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with Med/Surg and neurological diagnoses.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Utilize telemetry systems to interpret dysrhythmias and manage related conditions.
• Perform IV starts and maintain accurate patient records using electronic systems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float as needed to other Med/Surg/Telemetry areas, including COVID care units.
• Participate in unit orientation and staff training as required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
• Previous traveler experience with at least 2 successful contracts required (first-time travelers will not be considered).
• Valid certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS. ACLS certification preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in IV start, telemetry, and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Experience in managing neuro patients, including stroke and neurosurgery cases.

Job Details

• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6.
• Shift: 12-hour nights.
• Work schedule: 36 or 48 hours per week, with a requirement to work every other weekend.
• Unit orientation: 36 hours.
• Mandatory floating to other Med/Surg/Telemetry areas as needed.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Availability to work weekends and make up missed shifts as needed.
• Uniform: Navy scrubs.
