Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring NC or compact RN licensure and prior Med/Tele experience.

Details

  • 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
  • Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (Flu/Pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
  • RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700) totaling 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Unit supported by CNAs, charge nurse, 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage, plus phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams
  • Telemetry monitoring techs available on the unit
  • Utilizes Epic EMR, IV pumps, automated med dispensing, cardiac monitors, and virtual nursing camera system (VNO) for second RN witness and remote monitoring support

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Core Med/Tele skills required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a fast-paced, patient-centered Med/Surg Telemetry unit known for strong team culture
  • 2-day departmental orientation provided in addition to standard New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
  • Navy scrub color required

  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least one year following a permanent position before being eligible to return
