Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg experience; Must have iCare experience and at least 18 months of Med/Surg experience License: VA License or proof of compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience Patient ratio experience of 6:1 Charting system experience in Epic Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a medical-surgical float pool. Locals are allowed at the same rate. EOW (every other weekend) is required. This unit is a 450-bed level two trauma center. Must be able to float to various medical units as needed. Oncology care is general and does not require administering chemotherapy. Day shift typically has a patient ratio of 1:5, while nights have 1:6. ED assignments will be appropriate based on staffing needs. Candidates may be pulled outside their assigned complex to ensure coverage. CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) management and interpretation of dysrhythmias are essential skills. Interdisciplinary support includes various teams such as IV, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Nursing professionals should be prepared for a diverse patient demographic. All certifications and licenses must be up to date and submitted with application. Floating may be requested based on the needs of the facility. Education in NIH and stroke protocols is required for nursing professionals. All hiring criteria will be conducted with careful adherence to facility needs. Specialty experience must have been gained within the last year.
