Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring NC or compact licensure and 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

• Emergency Observation Unit in a Trauma Level III teaching hospital with 457 licensed beds
• 10-bed unit with average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week on a 6-week cycle
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) based on scope of practice
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
• Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Experience with PCA pumps
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit supported by a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN, and 24/7 access to Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage
• Resource RN assists with admissions and discharges, and phlebotomy is a shared responsibility between RNs and the IV team
• Facility recognized as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel consideration
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Facility and departmental orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental training
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Previously employed staff must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
