Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a busy 44-bed unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

• 44-bed Medical/Surgical-Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma hospital
• Treats adult patients with respiratory illness, GI illness, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, behavioral health, and placement issues
• RN patient ratio of 1:4-6, with surge times up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week cycle
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed within scope of practice
• Remote telemetry monitoring supported by dedicated monitor tech
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Patient Safety Net (PSN) monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, and pleurx catheter management
• Strong bedside manner and communication skills required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including central line management, with CNA and IV/VAT team support for peripheral sticks and difficult access
• Support team includes CNAs trained in additional skills, dayshift unit secretary, charge nurse coverage when staffing allows, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO), facility flash orientation, and two days of departmental orientation with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free employee parking available in an on-site deck

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least one year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
