The nurse will be expected to float between units based on patient needs. On-call duties may be required if there is low patient census. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights. Travelers may float to other units and facilities to meet the needs of the organization. If assigned to an alternate facility, additional incentives will be provided for hours worked. Orientation for this position requires 40 hours of training. There are no restrictions on scrub colors across the facility. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals. Care is provided to adults and geriatric patients for general medical and surgical conditions. The daily census averages around 47 patients. Typical patient diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, heart failure, stroke, and infections among others. Preferred skills include management of cardiac drips, IV insertion, and telemetry monitoring. Travelers must be flexible and willing to float, as refusal may affect contract status. Additional compliance and reference requirements are necessary prior to the assignment.
