Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiac Telemetry to join our fast-paced and dynamic team. This position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to manage a challenging workload involving various cardiac conditions.

Shift Details

  • Schedule: Night Shift, 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, 2 Mondays, and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for patients with cardiac conditions, including pre and post-procedure management.
  • Monitor patients on telemetry, including managing cardiac drips, and administering IV medications as needed.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with admissions and discharges, ensuring smooth patient transitions.
  • Utilize advanced equipment and technology to facilitate patient care.
  • Maintain a high patient turnover rate, effectively managing multiple patient assignments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, with specific experience in a busy telemetry unit.
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.
  • Experience with intravenous therapy and telemetry monitoring.
  • Ability to work in a high-acuity environment and manage fluctuating patient assignments.
  • Familiarity with cardiac procedures, including pacemaker implantation and catheterization.

Unit Environment

This unit serves as the primary cardiac and stroke unit, providing care for a variety of conditions such as unstable angina, congestive heart failure, and dysrhythmias. Our nurses are expected to work with patients receiving multiple drips and those experiencing COVID-19 complications when applicable.

Orientation and Scheduling

  • Orientation: 36 hours; must be available daily during the first week.
  • Scheduling is self-managed with oversight from leadership to ensure equitable distribution of shifts.

Dress Code

Navy blue and white scrubs or a mixture of the two are required, along with Novant t-shirts. Jackets must be made of the same material as uniforms and no crocs with holes are permitted.

Additional Information

This role requires passing an EKG test prior to start. Travelers and first-time travelers are welcome to apply. The unit offers a collaborative environment with support from a team lead for efficient patient management.
