Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience, along with a strong background in medical-surgical nursing and telemetry care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with various medical conditions.
• Utilize telemetry for remote monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Manage and monitor patients with bowel obstructions, colostomies, and ileostomies.
• Administer hemodialysis, blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines.
• Perform phlebotomy and proper IV starts and management.
• Care for patients with tracheostomies and manage BiPAP/CPAP devices.
• Implement isolation precautions and ensure appropriate use of PPE.
• Conduct wound care, including the use of wound vacs as necessary.
• Engage with rapid response and code teams as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience with Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing is essential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Charge experience and additional certifications such as ACLS are preferred.
• Strong ability to manage a variety of patient diagnoses, including diabetes, pneumonia, and renal failure.

Scheduling and Requirements

• Shifts are nights from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Work schedule: 36 or 48 hours per week; contracts between 13 to 20 weeks accepted.
• Must be available to work holidays and every other weekend.
• Flexibility to float to different units if required.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to the start.
• Expected to participate in storm and disaster response teams when necessary.

Unit Orientation

New hires will receive a comprehensive unit orientation of 24 hours to familiarize themselves with the unit protocols and expectations.

Scrubs

Navy Blue or white scrubs are required while on duty.

Patient Population

Patients will include individuals with varied medical needs such as sepsis, COPD, CHF, and post-operative care from various surgical procedures.
