Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team on the Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care while floating to various Medical Surgical and Telemetry units, including forensics and inpatient populations. Comfort and experience working with the prison population are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in alignment with standard nursing practices and policies.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting changes as necessary.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
• Participate in holiday rotation and cover designated holidays as assigned.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIH), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB).
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a Medical Surgical setting.
• Ability to float to multiple units, including specialized behavioral and forensic units.
• Comfortable working with diverse populations, specifically within a correctional environment.

Scheduling Information

This position requires night shifts working three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:00). Block scheduling is not available. Contract nurses will be expected to work during the holiday season, specifically covering three of the six specified holidays based on group assignment.
