Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 days and weekends; 1:5 nights
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Two of the three winter holidays
- Unit Information: 26-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit
- Orientation: 24 hours
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience, preferably in medical-surgical telemetry
- Active Virginia Registered Nurse license; pending licenses may be considered if obtained before the required deadline
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Recent Epic experience required
- Experience caring for patient ratios of up to 1:5
- Telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac rhythm management experience
- Competency with chest tubes, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, insulin drips, tracheostomy care, PCA pumps, renal failure care, isolation precautions, and wound care or wound vacs
- Ability to float within the Registered Nurse scope of practice as needed
- Previous charge nurse and Level I trauma experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Flu vaccination required
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical telemetry setting
- Monitor telemetry patients and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias and changes in clinical condition
- Care for patients with respiratory and renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
- Manage nurse-driven heparin infusions, insulin drips, renal care, chest tubes, tracheostomies, PCA pumps, and wound vacs
- Complete thorough assessments, medication administration, care planning, documentation, and patient education using Epic
- Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, IV teams, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Maintain infection prevention, isolation, and patient safety standards
- Support unit operations by floating appropriately within scope and contributing to a respectful, team-oriented environment
