- Shift: 12-hour night shifts
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800-$1,890
- Unit: 12-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending Virginia RN license accepted if in hand before start
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care or Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- Epic experience required
- Ability to safely manage a 1:4 patient ratio
- Strong clinical skills in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with heparin protocols, IV insulin drips, wound care, isolation precautions, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care preferred
- Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate medical-surgical nursing and telemetry patient care to adults and geriatric patients
- Monitor telemetry, assess patient status, and respond quickly to changes in condition
- Administer medications and support therapies such as nurse-driven heparin infusions and insulin drips
- Provide wound care, tracheostomy care, and other advanced bedside nursing interventions as needed
- Care for patients with respiratory illness, renal disease, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote positive patient outcomes
- Document care accurately in Epic and follow unit policies, safety standards, and floating guidelines
