Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in Charlottesville, VA

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse travel nursing opportunity in Charlottesville, Virginia, supporting a collaborative acute care team on a 22-bed unit. This 13-week, on-site assignment cares primarily for post-surgical, trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery patients. Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Contract Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday; must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Orientation: 48 hours
• Scheduling: Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia; pending licenses may be considered if obtained before the required deadline
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred but not required
• Recent Epic electronic health record experience required
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia recognition and management, blood product administration, central lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, wound care, PICC lines, oxygen delivery systems, and rapid response procedures
• Ability to float to other acute care units within the scope of practice as needed
• BSN preferred
• Ability to meet applicable vaccination, screening, licensing, and credentialing requirements

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to a diverse acute care population, primarily post-surgical and trauma patients
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Monitor patients using telemetry, continuous pulse oximetry, capnography, and end-tidal CO2 equipment as indicated
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias and other clinical emergencies
• Administer medications, blood products, insulin protocols, and other treatments according to orders and policy
• Manage surgical wounds, wound vacs, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, and peripheral IV access
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, IV teams, wound care specialists, and rapid response teams
• Complete accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively during handoffs
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, patient education, discharge preparation, and unit-based quality initiatives
• Float to other acute care areas as assigned while maintaining patient safety and professional standards
