Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses with a specialization in Orthopedics to join our fast-paced unit. This role offers the opportunity to thrive in a challenging environment, providing care to a diverse patient population.

Contract Details

• Contracts accepted for 20+ weeks, ending by February 27, 2027.
• Holiday incentive available for local candidates at the regular rate.

Shift Information

• 12-hour night shifts: 18:45 - 07:15.
• Weekly hours: options for 36 or 48 hours.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Work with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1; may flex to 7:1 in exceptional circumstances.
• Float to other medical-surgical units as needed based on staffing requirements.
• Provide care to patients with orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical conditions.
• Maintain awareness of pain management for patients in your care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a clinical setting, specifically in Orthopedics.
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry.
• Certifications: BCLS and NIH.
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• ACLS certification.
• Experience as a Charge Nurse.
• Proven experience in a Level I Trauma setting.

Patient Population

The unit manages an average daily census of 37 patients across 39 beds, handling a variety of conditions, including orthopedic surgeries and COVID-19 cases non-cohorting into a specific unit.
