The unit has 17 beds and a patient ratio of 1:4. Patients are received from various sources, including the Emergency Department and Medical Intensive Care Unit. A wide range of medical diagnoses is seen, including diabetes, COPD exacerbations, and wounds. Nurses are expected to provide safe, competent, and effective care. Every effort is made to create a supportive learning environment for all team members. Nurses will participate in interdisciplinary rounding with a focus on patient care and quality issues. Staffing includes support from various teams, including physical therapy and pharmacy. The work environment emphasizes respect, communication, and collaboration among team members. Continuous tracking of process improvements is a priority to enhance patient care. The unit utilizes Visual Management for quality monitoring. Team members are encouraged to engage in professional development and education. A diverse patient population is served, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
