Description:
This position is for a 27 bed General Medicine Unit.
The unit focuses on a variety of disease processes involving the respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal systems.
Clinicians work nights and can offer either 36 or 48 hours per week.
Assignments can extend through the end of the specified contract period.
Every other weekend is scheduled.
Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.
Time off is approved for up to 40 hours.
Two out of the three winter holidays must be worked.
Candidates must adhere to float policies.
Epic experience is essential.
BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred but not required.
The unit has a patient ratio of 5 nurses to patients at night.
Daily patient census is around 25.
The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
Special procedures performed on the unit include nurse-driven insulin drips and telemetry.
Candidates should be familiar with heparin infusions and tracheostomy care.
Nursing duties include managing dysrhythmias and wound care.
The unit also cares for patients with various health issues including respiratory and renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, and heart failure.
Nurse-driven flu vaccinations are also part of the unit's responsibilities.
