Description:
This position is for a clinical review and auto offer.
The unit consists of 26 beds in an acute care environment.
The patient population is diverse, primarily comprised of general surgery and trauma patients.
Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit, with the remaining 10% having medical diagnoses.
All rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry.
The unit staff includes 3 CNA/PCTs for a full unit of 26 patients, along with a unit secretary during the week.
Additional support roles include a clinical nurse specialist, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, administrative assistant, and medical director.
Specialized equipment on the unit includes monitoring capabilities for telemetry and end-tidal CO2 monitoring.
Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to occasionally 1:5, with assignment support from a free-float charge RN.
An IV team and phlebotomy services are available, relieving nurses of these responsibilities.
There is an inpatient wound care team that provides strong support for wound vac and ostomy needs.
Staff are required to work alternating weekends and holidays, including during winter holidays.
The unit is capable of providing care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Daily census averages around 22 patients.
Special procedures include trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery.
