Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks with 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• RTO requests must be submitted through the manager for approval
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS preferred with EKG competency exam required during onboarding
• Certification in med surg is a plus
• Patient ratio: RN 1:4-6
• Care for patients with acute or chronic diseases, common co-morbidities including diabetes, hypertension, infections, and electrolyte imbalances
• Provide care for cardiac patients including post-cath, CHF, and a-fib, as well as post-surgical patients including general, orthopedic, and trauma cases
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, strong assessment and time management skills, care coordination with interdisciplinary team, discharge planning, and patient education
• Required telemetry skills include monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath care, TR bands, and post-cath groin site management (no sheath pulls)
• Required drip management includes insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine; may titrate drips for HR but not BP
• Float pool capacity required - must be willing to float to all Med/Tele units in house as needed
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris; Med dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: Phillips; Additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs

This facility is a large acute care hospital with 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation, making it one of the region's most comprehensive medical centers. It operates as a teaching hospital and is home to a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The facility offers 24/7 support services including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and a central telemetry unit, ensuring a well-supported environment for both staff and patients.
