Shift Information: 1900 - 0700 Sunday, Monday, Tuesday nights

Weekend Rotation: EOW
Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)

- No Trauma Designation
- Not a Teaching Hospital
- Chest Pain Center
- Stroke Center
- Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:- Beds: 16 ED Beds and 5 boarding beds
Minimum Years of Experience required:- ED RN: 2 years ED exp (Resource Team)
- Med/Tele RN: 2 years Med/Tele exp (Resource Team)
Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:- *Travelers will most often be hired as Med/Tele RN to cover ED Holds – will be cross trained to task in the ED (IV starts/labs)*
- ED Diagnoses: Stroke, CHF, Electrolyte imbalance, Arrythmias, Respiratory arrest, Sepsis, COPD, Falls, MVCs, etc.
Patient Ratios:- RN: 1:5 max (acuity dependent)
- CNA: 1:7
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:- ED RN: Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI; Preferred: TNCC
- Med/Tele RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Skills required:- ED RN: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, triage experience, etc.
- Med/Tele RN: General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
- Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF
Support within the Department:- CNA
- Receptionist/HUC
- Charge nurse – may or may not have patients
- Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws
- IV/VAT Team: 11a-7p, 11p-7a
- Resource Nurse – as staffing allows
- RT, 24/7
- Hospitalist, 24/7
- Intensivist - ICU provider in house until 11p M-F, till 7p Sat/Sun, VCC coverage and on call Intensivist
Technology/Equipment:- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Unit specific equipment: bladder scanner, IV pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Bipap
Floating:- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit):Scheduling:- Weekend rotation: every other
- No call for travelers
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
