The nurse will be expected to work every third weekend and on holidays as needed. Floating between various campuses may be required. Acute care rehabilitation experience is preferred. The role involves interpretation of laboratory results, medication reconciliation, and patient health history. Nurses are responsible for vital sign assessment, dressing changes, and the setup of aseptic/sterile procedure trays. Other duties include capillary blood sampling, labeling of specimens, and telephone triage for medication refill requests. The unit provides specialized care for patients with rehabilitation needs including CVA, TBI, ABI, spinal cord injury, and generalized debility. Patient ratios are typically 1:6, although there may be instances where nurses are assigned to 7 patients of equal acuity. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams, including respiratory, pharmacy, and social services. Candidates must pass a compliance EKG exam prior to starting in the role.
