Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Med/Surg Telemetry to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, focusing on monitoring and responding to varying patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and provide care for patients with chronic and acute medical conditions.
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize telemetry for remote monitoring.
  • Administer medications, including blood products, and manage various intravenous lines.
  • Provide care for feeding tubes, colostomies, and ileostomies, along with pre and post-hemodialysis management.
  • Implement rapid response protocols and effectively work with code teams.
  • Administer oxygen and manage non-invasive airway devices, such as BiPAP and CPAP.
  • Practice isolation precautions and PPE protocols as necessary.
  • Perform wound care and manage wound vacs for patients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry unit.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and vital signs assessment.
  • Knowledge of renal failure management, phlebotomy, and IV maintenance.
  • Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Charge nurse experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience with electronic documentation systems.
  • Exposure to high-acuity patient management, including post-angiogram and post-surgical care.

Work Schedule and Requirements

  • Shift: Nights, 18:45 - 07:15.
  • Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks are available.
  • Availability for every other weekend is required.
  • Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
  • Orientation: 24 hours.
