License: Registered Nurse license in the State of Alabama or a Compact license. Certifications: AHA BLS or Red Cross Must-Have: 2 years of experience preferred; however, candidates with 18 months of experience working under the highest level of professional license will be considered. Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse to work in a medical respiratory unit. The unit specializes in the care of acute and chronic respiratory conditions. Nurses will provide care to patients with pneumonia, shortness of breath, COPD, and various lung diseases. Additionally, the unit provides care for a variety of medical patients with GI issues, diabetes, and occasional stroke and surgical patients. Nurses will participate in daily rounds with the interdisciplinary team. The unit includes a respiratory step-down area with a 1:4 nursing ratio. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Candidates must be willing to float to other units and hospitals. Availability to work 36 or 48 hours per week is required. Holidays and every other weekend may be required.
