Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg/Telemetry

Job Details

The unit primarily cares for stroke patients but also manages neurosurgery and various neuro-related diagnoses, including epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, among others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg neuro patients.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry data, focusing on dysrhythmias.
  • Start IVs and manage medication administration as needed.
  • Participate in patient education and support.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adapt to floating requirements across Med/Surg and Telemetry areas, including COVID care units.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience.
  • Must not be a first-time traveler; at least 2 successful contracts required prior to application.
  • Local applicants are accepted.
  • Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS required; ACLS preferred but not required.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Working Conditions

Ratios are 1:6. Contracts are available for durations of 13-26 weeks, with shift options for 36 hours or 48 hours per week. Travelers are required to work every other weekend, and any time off taken during weekends may extend the contract to cover those dates. A 36-hour orientation is provided for all new hires. Scrubs are navy.

Additional Information

  • Frequent floating may be required based on unit needs.
  • Must be prepared to make up any missed shifts within the same week or at the end of the contract.
