The nurse-to-patient ratio is 6:1. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, chronic kidney disease, and medical/surgical telemetry patients. Registered Nurses are required to read telemetry strips. Telemetry monitor technicians monitor patients. Charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse educators are available on the unit. Patient care technicians are present with a ratio of 12:1. The unit utilizes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen for patients. Shifts are 12 hours long, and scheduling is managed by the manager. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Every other weekend is required. Holidays are required. Registered Nurses will float to all medical/surgical units as needed. Scrub color is navy blue. Unit-specific orientation is provided. Charting is completed in Paragon. The work setting is acute care. Registered Nurses must have strong time management skills. Candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic environment.
