Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN – North Carolina

Start Date: September 21, 2026

Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Patient ratio 1:6. Contract duration 13-26 weeks available.

Highlights:

  • Primary neuroscience unit specializing in stroke care, with additional patient diagnoses including epilepsy, subdural hematomas, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological conditions
  • 42-bed unit with daily census around 50 patients, featuring a specialized 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
  • Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
  • 36-hour comprehensive orientation program to ensure successful onboarding
  • Floating may be required to other Medical/Surgical and Telemetry areas based on unit needs
  • Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and additional clinical services

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, including at least 1 year of direct Medical/Surgical experience (hard requirement)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required – must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts
  • Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
  • Current BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Experience with neurological patient populations and Medical/Surgical telemetry settings
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
  • Flexibility to work every other weekend and float to similar units as needed
