Description:
Observation unit that will have patients with chest pain rule out and will support when the house is full.
Many of these patients will be cardiac patients.
More cardiac and telemetry experience is required than prior times.
Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Daily census averages around 20 patients.
The role requires float assignments within MedSurg and observation units, as well as possible overflow support.
Interdisciplinary support includes teams such as IV, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response, and pharmacy.
Special procedures will be offered onsite for certifications not held by the RN.
The preferred experience includes managing post-cardiac procedures, telemetry monitoring, and various nursing skills related to cardiac care.
In addition, float requirements to other units may include specialty units such as psych.
Patient ratios during the night shift are typically 2 patients per RN.
