Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac telemetry experience - Experience with various patient management skills Description: The role involves working in an observation unit. The unit will cater to chest pain rule-out patients. Support will be provided to the emergency department when full. Patients will primarily include cardiac cases. Experience in cardiac and telemetry nursing is preferred. Previous charge experience is preferred. The patient ratio is generally 5:1. Preferred charting system experience includes Cerner. Experience in a community hospital setting is preferred. Candidates may float between medical-surgical units and observation units. They may also assist with overflow in the emergency department. Potential responsibilities include caring for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Daily census is approximately 20 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes multiple healthcare professionals. Candidates should be familiar with handling cardiac assessments and management. Experience with IV management, patient education, and support functions is vital. Good communication skills and teamwork are essential. The facility may offer additional training opportunities, including NIHSS. Candidates should have experience with telemetry monitoring and recognition of dysrhythmias. Management of various patient conditions related to med-surg and telemetry care is expected.
