- General Med/Tele skillset including basic cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
- Medication drip management experience including Heparin, blood products, intravenous fluids, and cardiac drips
Description:
This position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Tele.
The facility has 874 licensed beds and is recognized as a Level I Trauma center and teaching hospital.
The unit consists of 36 beds providing care for patients with complex gastrointestinal surgeries such as partial and total colectomy, bowel resections, and trauma overflow.
Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6 but may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing.
CNA ratios vary.
A charge nurse is available 24/7 and may or may not provide patient care.
Phlebotomy services are limited to peripheral blood draws.
Telemetry monitoring is managed by nurses who read monitors and respond accordingly.
Support staff includes respiratory therapy and hospitalists available 24/7.
The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is EPIC, with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell for medication dispensing.
The nurse may be required to float to different facilities within the designated region as needed.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
