The Nurse will work in a 26-bed Surgical Telemetry unit. Patient populations may include general medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients. Common diagnoses include bariatric weight loss surgery, urology procedures, general postoperative care, abdominal surgeries, GI bleed, small bowel obstruction, and foot and ankle surgery. The patient-to-nurse ratios are approximately 1:5-6, with a critical surge ratio of 1:7-8. Support staff will include CNA, receptionists, and charge nurses. Provision for ancillary services includes phlebotomy and a resource nurse as staffing allows. Telemetry monitoring will be available, and floating to other units within the region may occur as needed. Traveling staff may be requested to float according to regional needs, adhering to their scope of practice. Weekend rotation will occur every other week, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved up to six days, excluding holidays. Scheduling operates on a six-week cycle, and a uniform scrub color is navy.
