- Trach care
- Peripheral IV starts
- Chest tube management
- NGT placement
- Drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains)
- Foley insertion and management
- PCA pump medication management
Description:
The position requires a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry specialty.
The role involves caring for patients with various diagnoses, including CHF, COPD, chest pain workups, stroke symptoms, and respiratory issues.
The nurse will be assigned a home unit on the first day.
Patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 5-6 patients, with a critical surge of 1 RN to 7-8 patients.
Support within the department includes CNA, receptionist, and charge nurse, who may or may not have patients.
Phlebotomy services for peripheral blood draws are available.
An IV/VAT team is present from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
A resource nurse will assist as staffing allows.
The facility has 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage.
Telemetry monitoring is provided.
The electronic medical record system used is Epic.
IV pumps and medication dispensing systems are available.
Traveling and floating to different units within the region and scope of practice are required based on the department's needs.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and travelers should expect to work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved up to six days, excluding holidays.
Additional time will be added to the contract if unable to meet the contracted hours.
The schedule cycles every six weeks.
