Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months in MedSurg/Telemetry License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) General medical/surgical skillset EPIC experience Description: The position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The facility has a total of 337 licensed beds. It is equipped with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The MedSurg/Telemetry unit consists of 32 beds with an average census of 32 patients. Patient demographics include individuals experiencing strokes, seizures, altered mental status, generalized weakness, acute kidney injury/chronic kidney disease, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds. Patient ratios for RNs are 1:5-6 during days and nights, which may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing. Patient ratios for LPNs are also 1:5-6 days/nights with similar surge staffing considerations. CNAs will have a ratio of 1:8-11 days/nights. CNA support includes 1:12 ratios, a charge nurse, and a free-floating receptionist. Phlebotomy, IV, VAT teams, and pharmacological support are available 24/7. Additional support includes case managers, clinical nurse specialists, a dedicated RT for nebulizer treatments, and a nurse educator. Clientists and advanced practice providers are on-site 24/7. Floating is required within the region and scope of practice as needed. Travelers will be compensated for travel time between facilities if floating mid-shift. The unit culture is described as family-oriented.
