Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skill set including cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, such as Cardizem and Amiodarone. Wound care, drain and tube management. PIV starts and central line management. Description: Registered Nurse position in Medical Surgical/Telemetry. Facility features 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma Center. The unit has 32 beds and an average census of 28. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and SBO. RN ratios on days are 1:4-6 and nights are 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially reaching 1:7-8. CNA ratios vary from 1:10-11 or 1:16 depending on staffing. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars. Receptionist and health unit coordinator assist with rounds and secretary duties. Charge nurses serve as resources to assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available for blood draws. RT services are provided 24/7, along with hospitalist and intensivist coverage. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are available. EMR system used is Epic. Other equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Philips monitors. Floating may be required within the regional scope of practice. If floating mid-shift occurs, travel time between facilities will be compensated while remaining on the clock. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. There may be a possibility of low census call requiring on-call duty. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. There is a possibility to approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. Shift times include both 6:45 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:45 PM - 7:00 AM. Scheduling is cycled every 6 weeks. Scrub color required is navy.
