Description:
The Registered Nurse will work on a MedSurg/Tele unit.
The facility has 241 licensed beds and is designated as a level 3 trauma center.
The unit consists of 32 beds with an average census of 28 patients.
Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and small bowel obstruction.
Patient ratios are as follows:
Days - 1 nurse to 4-6 patients; Nights - 1 nurse to 5-6 patients, with surge staffing ratios potentially increasing to 1 nurse to 7-8 patients.
There is support within the department from CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars.
A receptionist/health unit coordinator will assist with rounds and administrative duties.
The role also has the support of a charge nurse for assistance with patient care.
Phlebotomy services are available beyond nurse draws.
The nurse will utilize EPIC for electronic medical records, Alaris for IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing.
Telemetry monitoring is available 24/7 with a dedicated telemetry technician on-site.
Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice, and travel time will be compensated if floating mid-shift.
Weekend rotation is every other weekend, with a possibility of low census call.
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off can be approved up to six days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.
Shift times are from 0645-1900 or 1845-0700, with a scheduling cycle of every six weeks.
