The nurse will care for an average of 5-6 patients, with potential surge staffing ratios of 1:7-8. Patient types will include those with strokes, respiratory illnesses, renal failure, wounds, and patients requiring peritoneal dialysis. Support within the department includes certified nursing assistants for activities of daily living and mobility. Healthcare professionals will include hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7, along with telemetry monitoring. Nurses may be required to float to other facilities within the region as needed. The department utilizes electronic medical records and various medical equipment to assist in patient care. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and a supportive work environment. Travelers may work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays.
