Description

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience required License: BLS required; ACLS preferred Certifications: Certification in MedSurg is a plus Description: RN - MedSurg/Telemetry position available. Facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation. Facility is also a teaching hospital with a chest pain center and a stroke center. Patient types include those in MedSurg/Telemetry all inpatient units. Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-6, LPN: 1:4-6, and CNA: up to 1:14. CNA will assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, bed changes, feeding if needed, and patient safety. Charge nurse will be present on the unit. Most units perform lab collection and RNs will draw off of central venous lines. IV team is not available; however, a PICC team is present. Resource nurses and discharge nurses are available to assist. Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist service are available 24/7. Technology includes EMR system, IV pumps, med dispensing, and specific unit equipment. Float pool will require travelers to float to all MedSurg/Telemetry units as needed. Candidates must possess skills in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer usage. Familiarity with common drips such as insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips is essential. Travelers will be required to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding. Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented.
