Description:
This role involves providing nursing care in a medical/surgical overflow environment.
The average patient census is approximately 51 per day.
Patients may present with chronic diseases, including congestive heart failure, mental health issues, addiction services, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, which may increase to 1:7-8 during surge times based on acuity.
Support within the department includes access to a nurse manager, clinical supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, clinical mentors, rapid response RNs, and house supervisors.
Technology used in this role includes an electronic medical record system and various department-specific equipment.
Travel nurses will have the opportunity to float to other nursing units as needed.
Flexibility to adapt to different patient care environments is essential.
Weekly schedules will be prepared in six-week cycles with a weekend rotation.
Travel nurses are expected to work 75% of holidays and may request up to six days off excluding holidays.
