If a traveler calls in for a scheduled weekend shift, they will need to make up those shifts based on unit needs. The unit cares primarily for stroke patients but also accommodates patients undergoing neurosurgery and other neurological diagnoses. Special procedures include a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit, with orientation available for trained nurses. Daily census is approximately 42 patients. Staffing ratios for the unit are 1 nurse to 6 patients. Mandatory skills include blood product administration, central line care, and management of various neurological conditions. Candidates must be open to floating within or near the facility as required. All nurses must complete EKG testing before starting. Candidates must work every other weekend, and frequent floating may be necessary. It is important to note that minimal experiences will not be considered for this position.
