Candidates should understand that block scheduling cannot be accommodated.
This is a rural facility that heavily relies on travelers in Med/Telemetry units.
Leadership has remained consistent for years, providing a stable management structure.
There may be challenges due to the lack of continuity among staff.
The team is looking for individuals who are willing to work hard and contribute positively to patient care.
Guaranteed hours are provided at 36 hours per week, with the potential for 36 or 48 hours bi-weekly.
The unit has 25 beds with a staff-to-patient ratio of 5-6:1.
Required certifications include BLS and ACLS.
Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, and chronic kidney disease.
Preferred experience includes familiarity with rural hospital settings.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate only Heparin.
Telemetry monitor technicians are present on the unit; Registered Nurses must be able to read strips.
Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are available, along with Nurse Educators.
Patient Care Technicians are present on the unit with a 12:1 ratio.
Common equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
Shifts are scheduled by management, based on facility needs.
Travelers are expected to work every other weekend.
Holidays will also be required.
There are no call or standby requirements.
Floating may be required to all medical/surgical units, possibly to care for telemetry patients prior to transfer.
Dress code consists of navy blue scrubs.
Relevant department orientation is conducted with two shadow or orientation shifts.
The facility currently uses a Paragon Charting System and is transitioning to a new system soon.
Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled under certain conditions.
