Job Summary
Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse for a day-shift position supporting patients with medical-surgical and telemetry needs in an acute care setting. The role provides patient care for conditions including congestive heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, chronic kidney disease, and medical-surgical telemetry cases. Strong communication, time management, and teamwork are essential.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; ability to interpret telemetry strips; strong communication and time-management skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Rural acute care experience.
- Schedule: Day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Every other weekend and holiday work is required; block scheduling is not available.
- Additional Information: Patient assignments typically range from 5:1 to 6:1. The role involves caring for patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring, including those with continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, and high-flow oxygen. Registered nurses titrate heparin and must be able to interpret telemetry strips while monitor technicians observe patients. Patient care technicians are available, with an approximate ratio of 12:1. Floating across medical-surgical units may be required, including care of telemetry patients awaiting transfer to a progressive care unit. Department orientation includes two shadowing or orientation shifts.
