Unit Information: 4A
Beds: 8
Census? Average patients/day? 8
Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Travel experience preferred
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
General Medical; some Cardiac, Pneumonia, UTI, Chest Pain, fluid overload
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:4
CNA: 1:8
Required Licensure & Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
PCA, surgical drains, wound care, telemetry – cardiac rhythm interpretation, Cardizem/Amiodarone gtt experience (will accept without but must be comfortable to learn)
Support within the Department:
CNA: Supports the RN by obtaining VS and blood glucose checks; assists with hourly safety rounds and ADLs.
Receptionist/HUC
Charge nurse: Charge Nurse is a free floating for the majority. On occasion, may have a full assignment.
Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws
IV/VAT Team? No, we start our own IVs.
RT 24/7? Yes, available – will need to page for assistance when needed
Hospitalist 24/7
Intensivist 24/7
Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes. Telemetry monitors on the unit.
RNs are responsible for reading/interpreting strips during shift
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: Epic
IV Pump: Alaris
Med dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: No monitors in the rooms.
Unit specific equipment: PCAs, trachs, complex wound care
Floating: If yes, where?
Any adult unit, or wherever the travel nurse has competencies to work
