Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical/Surgical or Telemetry License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong background in Medical/Surgical nursing. Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Solid written and oral communication skills. Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels. Experience reading telemetry strips. Description: The RN will work in a Medical/Surgical and Telemetry unit. The unit consists of 26 beds. The patient population may include general medicine diagnoses such as diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, renal complications, and wounds requiring dressing changes. The RN's responsibilities will include lab draws, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care. Patient ratios are 5-6 patients for RNs and 8-9 patients for CNAs. Support staff within the department includes CNAs, a receptionist, and charge nurses on modified assignments. Phlebotomy services will be available for routine draws, while RNs are responsible for STAT draws. The RN will have access to a rapid response team and specialized teams available 24/7, including respiratory therapy and hospitalists. Telemetry monitoring will be centralized, with strip monitoring each shift. Smart technology and equipment used includes an electronic medical record system and various monitoring devices.
