Description:
This is a 12-hour day shift nursing position in the MedSurg/Tele specialty.
The average daily census is 8 patients.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5.
The role includes caring for patients with common diagnoses such as chest pain, syncope, and angina.
Skills required include stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, PIV starts, and chest tube management.
The nurse will manage drain and tube placements, including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, and Foley insertions.
Medication management will include cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
Support within the department includes a supervisor and charge RN, along with resource nurses assisting with admissions and discharges.
There will be availability of respiratory therapy and hospitalists 24/7, not dedicated to this unit specifically.
Phlebotomy will be a combined effort between RNs and an IV team.
The electronic medical record (EMR) system utilized is EPIC, and IV pumps are Alaris.
The hospital uses Omnicell for medication dispensing.
Travel nurses may float to other nursing units based on patient care needs.
Floating may occur per regional needs to provide flexible staffing support.
Travel nurses will be first to float and will demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility.
Weekend rotations are expected every other week, and travelers will be required to work 75% of holidays.
Up to six days off can be approved, excluding holidays, with any time off needing to be added to the end of the contract.
Shift times are from 0650 to 1910 or 1850 to 0710, with a schedule cycle of every six weeks.
