The unit consists of 24 beds with an average length of stay of 1.2 days. The patient population includes individuals undergoing total hip and total knee replacements, bariatric surgeries, urology surgical patients, spine surgeries, and GYN procedures. The typical patient ratio is RN to patient 1:6 and CNA to patient 1:9. Support is available through CNAs, charge nurses, and resource teams as needed. Telemetry monitoring and technology are utilized to enhance patient care. Additional resources, such as hospitalists and intensivists, are available 24/7 if necessary. Minimal floating to other medical-surgical units may occur as needed. The unit culture is characterized by strong teamwork and support among staff.
