Description:
Position available for an RN in the MedSurg/Tele specialty.
The facility has 885 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation.
It operates as an academic medical center.
The unit consists of 8 beds with an average patient census of 8 patients per day.
Patient types include those with general medical conditions, some cardiac issues, pneumonia, UTIs, chest pain, and fluid overload.
Patient ratios comprise 1 RN to 4 patients and 1 CNA to 8 patients.
Support within the department includes CNAs who assist RNs with vital signs and blood glucose checks, as well as assistance with safety rounds and activities of daily living.
Charge nurses may have a full assignment on occasion but typically float.
Phlebotomy support is available for peripheral blood draws, and RNs are responsible for starting their IVs.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, as well as hospitalist and intensivist services.
Telemetry monitoring is available on the unit, with RNs responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac strips during their shifts.
The technology and equipment utilized include an electronic medical record system and various patient care devices.
Scrub color is royal blue, and the unit culture is described as friendly and supportive within an academic setting.
