Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7 A - 7 P Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience required Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices for assigned patients. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients to ensure optimal patient care. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment related to pre and post-operative care, including general, bariatric, orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, and genitourinary care. Administers pain management and provides care for chest tubes, PEG, G-tubes, J-tubes, traction, and various types of drainage. Administers medication and performs IV therapy, including specialized drips and titration. Maintains accurate nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments of changes. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families, functioning as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and provides age-appropriate care. Interacts professionally with patients and families to form an individualized plan of care that is reviewed and updated daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning with family involvement as appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care and allocates work effectively. Assists physicians with procedures as needed. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and work processes. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-service meetings, staff meetings, and workshops. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate supply of materials. Exhibits flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stress. Meets departmental specific competencies and adheres to policies regarding infection control and safety. Performs related duties as assigned and serves as a role model for other staff members.
