Description:
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
The RN provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process and nursing trends.
The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
The RN completes the initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care.
The plan of care is developed in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety.
The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
