Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedic Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Previous Charge RN experience required Travel experience required Epic charting system experience required Description: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required. Previous travel experience is mandatory. Nurses are expected to work three 12-hour night shifts, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend coverage, including Saturday and Sunday, is required. No on-call requirement exists for this position. Floating to other units is required as needed. Charge RN shifts may be assigned as needed. The unit consists of 29 beds offering care for adults through geriatrics, specifically for orthopedic patients, as well as medical-surgical patients. Telemetry monitoring is available within the unit. The department houses a physical therapy gym, enabling patients to receive necessary therapy without leaving the unit. High-volume patient populations include those who have undergone total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties. Moderate-volume patients include those requiring other surgical procedures and inpatient observation. Staffing includes interdisciplinary support from various teams such as physical therapy and social services. A daily census of 28 patients is typical for this unit. Patients with a variety of orthopedic issues and surgical needs are cared for here. Equipment on the unit includes CPMs and Buck's Traction, along with neck and back braces, as needed. All RNs are required to pass a compliance EKG exam, with two attempts allowed. Modules for orientation are unit-based and typically take 2-4 hours to complete.
