The unit consists of 30 beds and a dedicated nursing staff. There will be 1 charge nurse, 4-6 bedside RNs, and 2-4 patient care technicians. The patient ratio is typically 1:5 or 1:6. Equipment used in the unit includes continuous passive motion machines, nerve block pumps, and On-Q balls. The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech. Typical procedures performed include IV starts, Foley, and straight catheterization, along with early mobilization. Candidates should have a positive attitude and be team players. This unit is focused on providing great teamwork and exceptional patient experience. The patient population features a mix of elective orthopedic patients and orthopedic trauma patients.
