Job Title: Orthopedic Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS (preferred) Must-Have: Experience with patient ratios of 5:1 Travel experience required Description: This position is for an Orthopedic Nurse. The unit accommodates orthopedic and spine patients with an overflow of medical cases. Daily patient ratios are maintained at 5 to 6 patients per nurse. Every other weekend is required. Floating within the scope of the unit is necessary based on facility needs. The unit consists of 30 beds. The documentation system used is Epic. Navy scrubs are required. Additional interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Experience in managing IVs, wound care, and telemetry is necessary. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients. Candidates must have a solid understanding of orthopedic trauma and related procedures. The position requires proficiency in phlebotomy and central line management. A solid foundation in evaluating and responding to cardiac dysrhythmias is expected. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are essential. All clinical responsibilities must be performed following established safety protocols. The job may require participation in rapid response/code teams. Candidates should have experience with total joint replacement procedures.
